Not quite a full makeover

Take a closer look at TimGuion.com.

You may not immediately notice, but I’ve made some subtle (and some not so subtle) changes.  Overall, the site is more streamlined (i.e. no frames) so it will work better with a wider variety of browsers, and I’ve added a couple new features (like this blog.) Also for you frequent visitors, you’ll notice that a brand-new song is playing on the home page… :-)

While still in progress, this is the Phase 2 of the multi-phase TimGuion.com site re-design project.  Phase 2 will be wrapping up shortly after a few more changes & features are added:

  • The addition of “mini-sites” for my albums (G-ography will be the first)
  • Pop-up music players so you can keep the music playing while browsing
  • Re-freshed fonts & graphics

Yes, Phase 3 is still planned and will coincide with the release of my new album. That re-design will incorporate more significant changes than this “mid-year refresh.”  The next phase will result in the “All-new TimGuion.com” for 2010.  Stay tuned…

The real Tim Guion

So what will I use this blog for anyway?  Above all, this forum is a great tool for me to keep my website content fresh without complicated re-designs of my entire site or specific site pages (after all, I’m still a one-man show and this website stuff is time consuming!)  A blog section gives me much more freedom to bring dynamic, current “stream of consciousness” content to my fans, friends & family.

Some things I plan to bring to this blog:

  • insights into my creative process
  • share events, thoughts, and realizations that have inspired me
  • updates on new works and projects that I’m involved in
  • technical columns (like how my studio works, music software reviews etc.)
  • New song previews
  • Links to other cool artists (I’m really excited about this!!)
  • And anything else I can think of… (send me a note if you have ideas, too!)

I sincerely hope you will enjoy following my blog and that you find it interesting, informative and entertaining.

While my main website is my primary, formal “public” presentation, my blog is a place were I can get a little more personal, giving you a chance to get to know the real Tim Guion a little better.

Crash Course

I’m in that mode where I cannot be torn away from the computer. This is my first foray into the blogosphere, and I have a lot to learn! (Hey, at least I’m able to post already, right?)

My goal is to make this blog integrate into my website as seamlessly as possible, which will involve a slight re-design of the entire site to better comply with design standards.

While I certainly enjoy this work, you can probably tell that I am NOT at my keyboard writing music. [Grrrrrrr...]

I’ve got my “manager” and “PR” hats on these days…

Well, if you’ve gotten this far, it should be obvious to you that I’m starting a blog on my website!!!  It might take me a couple more days to customize this system, so for now, I’ll have to leave it at this…
